Necto Temperature Monitor

What to know about the Necto Temperature Monitor

Important: Do not unplug, move or tamper with the device.  They are expensive to replace.

What is it:  The Necto Temperature Monitor is a real-time cellular based temperature monitor that assists us in making sure your home stays at a minimum of 58 degrees in order to prevent frozen and burst pipes.  It will also track humidity and any loss of power.

How it works:  It is a cellular based device that sends out reports at 10 minute intervals.

What it is monitoring:   The reports we get back show the ambient temperature and humidity level as well as the current power status of the outlet it’s plugged into.

What are the benefits:  The main goal of why this device is in place is to report back if the ambient temperature around the device drops to unsafe levels.  This is especially beneficial if the home is unoccupied for long periods, like school breaks.  Any drops in temperature below 58 degrees could indicate problems with your thermostat,  furnace or oil/gas/electric supply.  The notifications that the management team receives will allow us to take action before damage can occur.  Frozen Pipes in the home can cause very significant and costly water damage.  We have experienced extreme situations where the home becomes uninhabitable due to the severity of water damage and tenants have to relocate.  This device will help us prevent that from happening.

When does the Property Management Team get notified:  Every 10 minutes the device will check the current Temperature, Humidity and electricity to the device.  Any changes in electricity, or fluctuations beyond the preset temperature and humidity ranges will trigger notifications to the property management team.  If it’s found that the device is reporting back concerning levels or a loss of electricity you can expect someone from our team to be reaching out to assess the situation.

What if the power goes out:  Any loss of power to the device will trigger notifications to the management team.  We will be able to see what time the power went out, and when it came back on.  There is a 3 day battery backup built in that will continue reporting temperature and humidity at 10 minute intervals.

What if it gets unplugged by accident:  Plug it back in right away.  If it remains unplugged for too long the management team will think you have lost power in your home and would be reaching out to you.  If the device is plugged back in quickly it would be seen as a quick power drop and no action would be needed.

Is there anything I need to do:  There is nothing you need to do.  Just make sure the device does not get moved, unplugged or tampered with.  It is considered a permanement fixture of your home and is expensive to replace.  Please be aware that if the temperature monitor in your apartment is damaged or removed by either the tenant or any guests, the tenants will be responsible for covering the cost of its repair or replacement.
